With the Recent storms ravaging the New England States, many seawalls did not fair so well. Hurricane Irene did some serious damage to the state of Connecticut and even Rhode Island. This left many seawalls in Rhode Island needing repair.
Hurricane Sandy, however, really was a monster of a storm that not only damaged bulkheads in Rhode Island, but really slamming Connecticut again and even much of the coast of Massachusetts. The bulkheads and coast in general was already hurting from the previous storm, leading to further damage to many seawalls.
So how do you know if your sea wall has been damaged, or is even in need of repair?
That’s a tough question, especially for an untrained eye. What may look like a little loose mortar in your stone wall, or small cracks in your concrete sea wall, could be just a minor repair. However, this could indicate the problem may be something much bigger.
Some of the Repair cost may not be that much if you are dealing with replacing some fallen rocks or re-pointing a few grout lines, but there are other problems that could be much more costly.
